Home repair expert Bob Vila to guest star on "Home Improvement"
Bob Vila, best-known as the host of the ten-year PBS series "This Old House,"
is guest-starring in a special episode of the hit comedy series "Home
Improvement" entitled "What about Bob?"
Vila, the host of "Bob Vila's Home Again," will be portraying himself in an
episode in which he makes a guest appearance on Tim Taylor's (Tim Allen) cable
home-repair show, "Tool Time." Although Tim acknowledges Vila as "the man who
started it all," he is nevertheless threatened by Bob's presence on his show;
when they agree to a "Stump the Tool Man" call-in contest, the results are
unpredictable hilarious.
"Home Improvement" stars Tim Allen as Tim Taylor, the host of "Tool Time," a
cable home improvement show on which he reigns over a macho celebration of
power tools and obscure hardware dispensing household repair tips and advice on
"recapturing the male spirit." Starring with Tim are Pat Richardson as his
wife and Zachery Ty Bryan, Taran Smith and Jonathan Taylor Thomas
as their three young sons. Next-door neighbor Wilson is portrayed by Earl
Hindman and Al, Tim's assistant on "Tool Time," is Richard Karn.
"Home Improvement" is executive-produced by Matt Williams ("Roseanne" and
"Carol & Company"), David McFadzean ("Roseanne," "Carol & Company") and
Carmen Finestra ("The Cosby Show"), and is a production of Wind Dancer
Productions, Inc. in association with Touchstone Television.
