"HOME IMPROVEMENT" SET FOR 'POWER'-FUL DEBUT WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER
16, 9:00 pm (ET/PT) ON ABC-TV
#1 Newcomer of '91-'92 Season is Back, More 'Power'-ful Than Ever!!
"Home Improvement" returns for its second season on ABC-TV, beginning
Wednesday, September 16, 9:00 PM (ET/PT). The freshman hit is back after
a breathtaking first season that saw it finish as the #1 rated new series and
the #5 rated prime time series overall.* Along the way, it was honored with a
People's Choice Award as "Favorite New Comedy Series," as well as an Emmy
nomination for Best Comedy Series.
Stand-up comedian Tim Allen continues in the role of Tim Taylor, the host of a
do-it-yourself cable show that offers him the opportunity to share his unique
philosophy on masculinity and the virtues of power tools on an unsuspecting
populace.
The new season will see a host of changes in the Taylor household as Jill makes
the break from the house and gets a job, leaving Tim a much larger share of the
domestic challenges than he may be ready or willing to accept; Tim will be
faced with the double whammy of not only a new boss on the cable show, but
(gasp!) ... it's a woman! Women are okay ... but Tim's not sure he likes
reporting to one. New relatives of Jill and Tim's will fill the Taylor home and
Lisa, the Vanna White of "Tool Time," will be back at Tim's elbow, upstaging
his competent assistant Al, despite his best intentions.
Co-starring with Tim Allen in "Home Improvement" are Patricia Richardson as his
quick-witted wife, Jill; Richard Karn as Al, the real brains behind Tim's "Tool
Time" show; Earl Hindman as his eccentric, mentor-like neighbor, Wilson; and
Zachery Ty Bryan, Jonathan Taylor Thomas, and Taran Noah Smith, as the Taylor's
thrre sons.
Written and executive-produced by Matt Williams (creator of "Roseanne" and
"Carol & Company"), David McFadzean ("Roseanne," "Carol & Company"), and Carmen
Finestra ("The Cosby Show"), "Home Improvement" is an irreverent and
free-wheeling look at the things that bug men and women: "Why didn't you
know what I meant ?!"; How was I supposed to know you wanted to
leave?!"; and the classic "You weren't listening, were you?!!"
"Home Improvement" is produced by Wind Dancer Productions, Inc. in association
with Touchstone Television.
Touchstone Television is part of Walt Disney Pictures and Television.
